Azure VPN Site monitoring
An Azure VPN Site represents a branch office or on-premises location connected into an Azure Virtual WAN. Site24x7 monitors VPN Sites to help you track site and site link status, device configuration, and connectivity, giving you early warnings about branch connectivity issues before they impact your users.
Setup and configuration
Adding an Azure VPN Site monitor while configuring a new Azure monitor
- Log in to your Site24x7 account.
- Go to Cloud > Azure > Add Azure Monitor.
- On the Add Azure Monitor page, select Azure VPN Site from the Service/Resource Types drop-down menu.
Adding an Azure VPN Site monitor to an existing Azure monitor
- Go to Cloud > Azure, select your Azure monitor, then go to any of the dashboards on the left pane.
- Click the hamburger icon and select Edit to open the Edit Azure Monitor page.
- Select the relevant Subscriptions and Resource Groups, select Azure VPN Site from the Service/Resource Types drop-down menu, and click Save.
After successful configuration, go to Cloud > Azure, click the required Azure monitor, and select Azure VPN Site to view the discovered VPN sites.
It will take 15–30 minutes to discover new Azure resources. For immediate discovery, go to the Infrastructure Dashboard of the Azure monitor, hover over the hamburger icon, and select Discover Now.
Polling frequency
Site24x7 collects VPN Site performance metrics every five minutes and displays the minute-by-minute status.

Configuration attributes
The following attributes are collected when the configuration changes and are displayed on the Metadata tab:

| Subscription | The Azure subscription in which this VPN Site is deployed. |
| Resource Group | The Azure resource group containing this VPN site. |
| Location | The Azure region where this VPN site is deployed. |
| Name | The display name of the VPN Site resource. |
| Tags | The tags applied to the VPN site resource. |
| Provisioning State | The current provisioning state of the VPN site (for example, Succeeded, Updating, or Failed). |
| Device IP Address | The public IP address of the on-premises VPN device at this site. |
| Address Prefixes | The address space, or spaces, of the on-premises network represented by this site. |
| Device Vendor | The vendor of the on-premises VPN device. |
| Device Model | The model of the on-premises VPN device. |
| Link Speed | The link speed of the site's connection, in Mbps. |
| BGP ASN | The Border Gateway Protocol Autonomous System Number configured for this site. |
| Is Security Site | Indicates whether this site is configured as a security site for traffic inspection. |
VPN Site Links
Each physical or logical link at the site is monitored as a VPN Site Link, with the following configuration attributes displayed on the Metadata tab:

| Link Speed | The link speed of this site link, in Mbps. |
| IP Address | The IP address of this site link. |
| FQDN | The fully qualified domain name of this site link, if configured. |
| BGP ASN | The Border Gateway Protocol Autonomous System Number configured for this site link. |
| BGP Peering Address | The BGP peering IP address for this site link. |
| Connection Status | The current connection status of this site link. |
| Name | The name of the site link. |
| Unique ID | The unique identifier of the site link. |
Threshold configuration
Global configuration
- In the Site24x7 web client, go to Admin > Configuration Profiles > Threshold and Availability (+).
- Click Add Threshold Profile and select Azure VPN Site as the Monitor Type.
- Set threshold values for any of the performance metrics listed above. All metrics support anomaly detection.
Monitor-level configuration
- Go to Cloud > Azure, select the Azure monitor, and click Azure VPN Site.
- Select a resource, click the hamburger icon, and select Edit.
- Configure threshold values using the Threshold and Availability option and click Save.
In addition to performance metric thresholds, the following configuration change alerts are available:
- Provisioning State change: Alerts you when the site provisioning state changes
- Is Security Site change: Alerts you when this setting is changed
Azure Resource Health alerts are also available:
- Resource Unavailable: Alerts you when Azure reports the resource as unavailable
- Resource Status Unknown: Alerts you when the resource health state is unknown
IT Automation
Site24x7's IT Automation enables you to define automated remediation actions that are triggered by alert events for this monitor—for example, notifying a team channel or invoking a webhook when a threshold is breached. Learn how to configure IT Automation for a monitor.
Summary
The Summary tab displays performance data organized by time for the metrics listed above, with the State metric prominently featured.
To view the summary, go to Cloud > Azure, select the Azure monitor, click Azure VPN Site, select a resource, and click the Summary tab.
A Forecast tab is also available, providing predictive trend analysis based on historical data.
Licensing
Each Azure VPN Site monitor consumes one basic monitor license.
