How to Monitor Domains in Akamai Cloud
Site24x7 continuously monitors Domains in Akamai Cloud by tracking operational status and downtime in real time so IT teams can detect DNS or domain-level disruptions before they affect user access across services.
Use case
Domain status: The Summary tab provides a quick overview of your domain's availability and status, helping teams quickly detect outages and avoid extended service disruptions.
Downtime monitor: Tracking how often Downtime occurs and how long it lasts helps teams understand if issues are occasional or recurring, making it easier to review DNS settings or escalate when needed.
SLA reporting: Availability data over selected periods helps teams measure domain uptime against SLA targets, supporting reporting, compliance, and reliability checks.
Setup and configuration
Domain resources are auto-discovered and monitored during the Akamai integration. To enable monitoring, follow the steps below:
- Navigate to Cloud > Akamai > Add Akamai Cloud Monitor. Follow the steps to add an Akamai monitor.
- While adding or editing an Akamai monitor, select Domain from the Service/Resource Types drop-down and click Save.
- Navigate to Cloud > Akamai Cloud, select the created Akamai monitor, and then click Domain.
Domain will be discovered during the next discovery cycle as per the discovery frequency you selected during Akamai monitor creation.
Data collection frequency
Based on the configured poll interval, performance metrics of your Akamai Domain are collected and updated in the Site24x7 portal every five minutes by default.

Summary
The Summary tab displays the availability status, downtime history, and SLA metrics for each domain resource, providing a clear, continuous record of whether your DNS zones are active and serving correctly.
Keeping a close watch on these summary indicators allows your team to detect domain-level outages early, preventing cascading failures in any services that depend on those DNS records for routing.
