Right now, the monitoring options for Azure SQL DB is limited to the same general metrics we can get from the resource in Azure.
The SQL Server Insights monitor has been helpful tracking database blocks, database blockers, and high cost transactions.
It'd be nice to have this same option for Azure SQL DB.
Obviously, the current design for SGL Insights, that is, on box, would have to change to something performed by an on-premise poller.

Thank you for bringing this up. I'm delighted to inform you that we are currently working on providing more metrics for Azure SQL DB. In the mean time, could you let us know if you had any particular metric to be shown as part of Azure monitoring.
