Hello,
We have a service in which the only way to get an external alert is VIA email. There are no exposed APIs or other ways to get this data, such as API, webhooks, etc.
It would be great if there were an option to have a monitored address within Site24x7 that could receive email alerts, parse them, and update a status monitor in some manner.
Just a thought!
Hi Dennis,
Thank you for sharing your feedback and suggestion.
We are currently working on a feature that allows the generation of user-specific mailboxes with unique email addresses. Customers will be able to send data to these mailboxes, and we will parse the email content to perform specific actions within Site24x7.
We would like a few clarifications regarding the query:
-
The service mentioned — what type of service is it? Is it intended to be added as a monitor in Site24x7?
-
How should the status be affected or updated based on the received email?
Regards
Jenzo
Site24x7
Hi Jenzo,
This is a SaaS application for temperature monitoring.
The dashboard is function, but only emails and SMS alerts are currently supported.
This would be a monitor added, with some kinda custom address like 42397fjdsfklieke@site247monitoring.com.
We set that and message are sent to it.
Then, we can alert on text strings, such as "alarming", "cleared" or "sensor1" and can set some status based on multiple values, like trouble for "sensor2" or critical for "sensor3".
If the monitor supports all clear messages, it would be nice to reset the monitor status if "all cleared" or something similar is recieved.
Some services might also not send all clear messages. Then, an easy way to "acknowledge" the alert, which clears the monitor as well.
Just some thoughts!
